Our Story
Our story starts with sadness, but through this event, our eyes were open to the many blessings that surround us.We realized that many other children and their families face trials, and found a deep desire to help those in need.
On March 8th, we welcomed a seemingly healthy baby girl into the world. Although we knew at birth that she had a heart murmur, we were reassured that it wasn’t anything to be alarmed about. Three weeks later, however, we were given the devastating news that she had a very underdeveloped main artery (a coarctation of the aorta) that was not allowing the blood to flow properly. Our sweet M.E. was flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she underwent life saving open-heart surgery the very next morning. During this time, Scott had just made the MLB roster out of Spring Training with the New York Yankees. We went from such happiness to utter fear that we may lose our baby. Thank God, she survived the surgery, and is now a happy, healthy eleven-year-old girl. |
Scott and I want to use our experiences to reach out to children in our community who may go without. With the help of our community, as a TEAM, we want to better the lives of children. Our focus falls in the following areas: athletics, education, and health.
“ It takes a village to raise a child.” We hope you will consider joining our Team!
